Welcome to Searingtown

Searingtown, NY, is a small, unincorporated community located in the Town of North Hempstead on Long Island's North Shore. The area’s name is believed to have originated from the Searing family, early settlers who owned much of the land in the region during the 18th century. Originally part of the larger area known as Manhasset, Searingtown was predominantly rural and agricultural for much of its history, with farming being the primary industry. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as Long Island's Gold Coast became a popular retreat for wealthy New Yorkers, the area began to transition from farmland to residential development. The construction of the Long Island Rail Road in the late 1800s further accelerated the growth of Searingtown, making it more accessible to city dwellers looking for a suburban home. Today, Searingtown is a quiet and affluent community known for its mix of beautiful homes and residential charm, while still retaining some of its historical character amidst the growth of surrounding areas.
