Welcome to New Hyde Park

New Hyde Park, NY, located in both Nassau County and a small portion of Queens, has a rich history dating back to colonial times. Originally inhabited by the Matinecock Native American tribe, the land was later settled by English and Dutch colonists in the 17th century.

In 1683, Thomas Dongan, the Royal Governor of New York, was granted a large tract of land in the area, which he named "Hyde Park" after his hometown in England. Over time, the area was subdivided into farms and estates, becoming an important agricultural hub throughout the 18th and 19th centuries.

With the arrival of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) in the 19th century, New Hyde Park transitioned from a rural farming community to a thriving suburban area, attracting residents who commuted to New York City. The village was officially incorporated in 1927, and by the mid-20th century, it had developed into a densely populated suburb with homes, schools, and businesses.

Today, New Hyde Park is known for its strong community feel, excellent schools, and convenient location. It maintains a mix of historic charm and modern amenities, making it a desirable place to live on Long Island.
