Welcome to East Hills

East Hills, NY, is a prestigious village on Long Island’s North Shore, located within the Town of North Hempstead. The area’s history dates back to the 17th century, when it was originally inhabited by the Matinecock Native American tribe before being settled by English colonists in the 1640s. It remained largely agricultural through the 18th and 19th centuries, with farms and estates dominating the landscape.

During the early 20th century, as Long Island’s Gold Coast became a haven for wealthy New Yorkers, East Hills saw the development of grand estates and country homes. Many of these estates belonged to prominent families, contributing to the area’s reputation for exclusivity and elegance.

The Mackay Estate Gate Lodge in East Hills is a historic landmark and one of the last remaining structures from the Mackay Estate, a grand Gold Coast mansion built in the early 1900s. The estate belonged to Clarence Mackay, a wealthy industrialist and financier who played a significant role in Long Island’s aristocratic history.
By the mid-20th century, with suburbanization on the rise, much of the large estate land was subdivided into residential neighborhoods. East Hills officially became an incorporated village in 1931, evolving into a sought-after suburban community known for its beautiful homes and proximity to New York City.

One of the most significant developments in recent history was the opening of the Park at East Hills in 2006. Built on the former Roslyn Air National Guard Station, this 50-acre park features a resort-style pool, tennis courts, playgrounds, and walking trails, serving as a focal point for the community with free access for residents.

Today, East Hills is known for its affluent lifestyle, well-maintained properties, and strong sense of community, making it one of the most desirable places to live on Long Island.
