Welcome to Brookville

Brookville, NY, is a picturesque village on the North Shore of Long Island, known for its wealthy estates, scenic landscapes, and deep-rooted history. Originally inhabited by the Matinecock Native American tribe, the area was settled by European colonists in the 17th century, primarily by English and Dutch farmers.

Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, Brookville remained a quiet, rural farming community, with large estates owned by prominent families. As the Gold Coast era of the early 20th century flourished, wealthy industrialists and financiers built grand mansions and estates in Brookville, similar to those found in nearby areas like Old Westbury and Sands Point.

In 1931, Brookville was incorporated as a village within the Town of Oyster Bay, ensuring careful zoning and preservation of its low-density, estate-style living. Over the years, it became one of the most affluent communities in the country, attracting business executives, celebrities, and professionals seeking privacy and luxury.

Today, Brookville is home to Long Island University’s Post Campus (LIU Post), which occupies a former Gold Coast estate, as well as equestrian trails, golf courses, and preserved woodlands. It remains one of the most prestigious and desirable residential areas on Long Island.
